Logo Design Process

  1. Choose a Brand name
  2. Customers & Competitors - find out the target customers as well as the competitors from the client. Also find out who your client sells to (age, gender, spending power, race and online interaction).
  3. Competitor analysis - do some research on the competitors to see what colors, logo marks and typographies they use so you can decide whether to go with something similar or totally against norm.
  4. Mind map - choose some words that define the brand and find symbols appropriate for those keywords.
    1. Find out what emotions the brand intends to communicate.
    2. Pick 3 words and expound on those. 
    3. Find objects, animals or colors that relate to the words you've chosen.
  5. Mood Board - find pictures of animals or objects you've chosen from the mind map. Google images, dribbble.com, behance.net
  6. Draw your logo - draw on paper, ideas then move them to the computer to tidy them up. Do a minimum of 20 and number them.
  7. Develop in illustrator.
